Blanket Fundraiser for Claire Schneider

We are honored to host a blanket fundraiser for Claire Schneider, a Southland 3rd grader with a story full of courage, faith, and resilience.

Claire was born with HLHS (Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome) — meaning the entire left side of her heart was underdeveloped and unable to function. Without intervention, babies with this condition cannot survive.

At just 6 hours old, Claire underwent her first open-heart surgery, the Norwood. She later received her second surgery, the Glenn, at 4.5 months old.

In May 2019, after an unexpected case of RSV, doctors discovered a major blood flow problem. Claire underwent a central shunt placement and tricuspid valve repair to stabilize her heart.

In 2020, surgeons attempted the third stage operation, the Fontan, but it was unsuccessful, and her previous anatomy had to be restored. Since then, Claire has endured multiple heart catheterizations, daily medications, and countless appointments — all while her family has tried to maintain the most normal life possible for her and her siblings.

After exhausting all other options, Claire was listed for a heart transplant in April 2024. She has been in the hospital waiting since July 2025, away from home, away from her friends, and separated at times from her siblings who still attend school here in the community.

Despite everything, Claire is a bright light. She is in third grade, loves staying connected to her classmates, and will soon celebrate her 9th birthday from her hospital room.
